秋，使護西域騎都尉甘延壽、副校尉陳湯撟發戊己校尉屯田吏士及西域胡兵攻郅支單于。 In autumn, Protector of the Western Regions and Cavalry Commandant Gan Yanshou and Vice Commandant Chen Tang were sent to mobilize the Wuji Commandant's garrison farming officials and soldiers, as well as Western Regions Hu troops, to attack Chanyu Zhizhi.

四年春正月，以誅郅支單于告祠郊廟。 In the first month of spring in the fourth year, the execution of Chanyu Zhizhi was announced and sacrifices made at the suburban temples.

詔曰：「匈奴郅支單于背叛禮義，既伏其辜，虖韓邪單于不忘恩德，鄉慕禮義，復修朝賀之禮，願保塞傳之無窮，邊垂長無兵革之事。 An edict declared: 'Chanyu Zhizhi of the Xiongnu turned his back and rebelled against ritual and righteousness, and has already submitted to his guilt. Chanyu Huhanye has not forgotten kindness and virtue, faces and admires ritual and righteousness, again repairs the ritual of court congratulations, wishes to protect the border pass and transmit it endlessly, so the border regions long have no affairs of weapons and armor.
