命未下，而陳友諒已陷江西諸郡。 Before the appointments could be issued, Chen Youliang had already seized the prefectures of Jiangxi.

友諒遣人辟之，當卧床不食，以死自誓，乃舁床載之舟，送江州，拘留一年，終不為屈。 Youliang sent men to recruit him. Dang took to his bed and refused to eat, vowing to die rather than submit. They carried his bed onto a boat and sent him to Jiangzhou, where he was detained for a year but never yielded.
