論曰：『漢初天下創定，朝制無文，叔孫通頗采經禮，參酌秦法，雖適物觀時，有救崩敝，然先王之容典蓋多闕矣，是以賈誼、仲舒、王吉、劉向之徒，懷憤嘆息所不能已也。 The historian comments: "Early Han had no written court ritual; Shusun Tong drew on classical rites and Qin statutes—it met the moment and staunched decay, yet the old kings' forms were largely gone, which is why men like Jia Yi, Dong Zhongshu, Wang Ji, and Liu Xiang fumed and could not rest.
