子略克摧勍敵，荷成先構，虛襟訪道，側席求賢，敦友弟以睦其親，明賞罰以臨其下，英髦盡節，爪牙畢命。 Yao Xing broke strong enemies, finished his father's work, sought wise counsel, knit his clan, and ruled with clear rewards—rivaling Zhuang of Chu or Mu of Qin.

取汾、絳，陷許、洛，款僭燕而籓偽蜀，夷隴右而靜河西，俗阜年豐，遠安邇輯，雖楚莊、秦穆何以加焉！ At his height he held the heartland and the west in prosperity few could match.
