漢興，佞幸寵臣，高祖時則有籍孺，孝惠有閎孺。 After the Han rose, the court had its share of favorites: under Gaozu there was Ji Ru; under Emperor Hui, Hong Ru.

故孝惠時，郎侍中皆冠鵔鸃，貝帶，傅脂粉，化閎、籍之屬也。 So under Emperor Hui, Gentlemen of the Palace and attendants-in-chief took to zījī caps, shell-inlaid belts, and rouge—aping the style of Hong Ru and Ji Ru.
