從太祖入平內難，以功遷虎捷右廂都指揮使，歷汝、鄭防禦使，亦有政聲。 He followed Taizu into the capital to settle the internal crisis and was transferred for merit to commander of the right wing of the Hujie army. He served as defense commissioner of Ru and Zheng prefectures and also won a reputation for good governance.

太祖之赴內難，彥超以本軍從。 When Taizu marched to settle the capital crisis, Yanchao followed with his own troops.

太祖嘉其善守之功，賞賜甚厚。 Taizu praised their skill in holding the city and rewarded them handsomely.
