武帝值中國隆盛，財力有餘，征伐遠方，軍役數興，豪桀犯禁，奸吏弄法，故重首匿之科，著知從之律，以破朋黨，以懲隱匿。 Emperor Wu flourished with surplus revenue and constant campaigns; bold men broke the law and corrupt clerks twisted it—so he tightened harboring statutes and accessory guilt to smash factions and punish concealment.
