世祖大明初，坐要引上左右俞欣之訪評殿省內事，又與弟西陽王文學勃忿鬩不睦，坐徙始興郡，勃免官禁錮。 Early in Emperor Xiaowu's Daming era, Mu was exiled to Shixing for drawing the emperor's attendant Yu Xin into discussions of inner-palace affairs and for feuding with his younger brother Bo, literary attendant to the prince of Xiyang. Bo was dismissed and barred from office.

世祖詔曰：「自頃幹僮，多不祗給，主可量聽行杖。」 Emperor Xiaowu decreed, "Lately dry servants have often failed in their duties. Masters may, within reason, apply the staff to them."
