以脩《武后實錄》勞，封高平縣子。 For compiling the 《Veritable Records of Empress Wu》, he was enfeoffed as Viscount of Gaoping.

始，武后時，大獄興，王公卿士以語言為酷吏所引，死徙不可計。 Earlier, under Empress Wu, great political persecutions arose; princes, ministers, and officials were ensnared by their words through cruel investigators, and the dead and exiled were beyond counting.

武后聞，放錫嶺南，才降味道集州刺史。 When Empress Wu heard of this, she exiled Xi to Lingnan and merely demoted Weidao to prefect of Jizhou.
