及還，檢校原州事，仍領行軍總管以備胡，無虜而還，上甚禮之，複以其弟弘升女為河南王妃。 On his return he acted as Governor of Yuanzhou and still held command against the barbarians; finding no enemy he returned. The emperor honored him greatly and again gave Hongsheng's daughter to the Prince of Henan as consort.

高祖受禪，進爵為公，授驃騎將軍。 When Gaozu accepted the abdication, Hongsheng's rank was advanced to duke and he was appointed General of Agile Cavalry.
