哥舒翰節度河西，表支度判官。 When Geshu Han governed Hexi he memorialized Yin as aide for branch supplies.

性靜慎，勤總吏職，諸僚或出遊，諲獨頹然據案，鉤視簿最，翰益親之。 Quiet and cautious by nature, he was diligent in clerical duties; when fellow officials went out on pleasure trips Yin alone sat bent over his desk scrutinizing ledgers; Han grew all the more fond of him.

翰敗潼關，諲西趨靈武，由中人尉薦，肅宗才之，拜御史中丞，所陳事無不順納。 When Han was defeated at Tong Pass, Yin hurried west to Lingwu; recommended by a eunuch, Emperor Suzong valued his talent and appointed him vice censor-in-chief; whatever he proposed was accepted.
