敏父咸式，年七十餘，而其祖父年九十餘，皆在鄴，敏乃求為興唐尹，事祖、父以孝聞。 Min's father Xianshi was over seventy, and his grandfather over ninety; both lived at Ye. Min therefore asked to be appointed Xingtang Prefect so he could serve them, and became known for his filial devotion.
