鋹又遣其弟保興率百官奉迎，為郭崇嶽所遏。 Chang again sent his younger brother Baoxing leading the officials to welcome them, but Guo Chongyue blocked them.

崇嶽無謀勇，但祈禱鬼神，復為拒捍之備。 Chongyue lacked strategy and courage; he only prayed to spirits and gods and again prepared to resist.

美等乃進攻，保興迎戰，大為所敗，美乘風縱火，煙埃坌起，崇嶽死於亂兵。 Mei and the others then pressed the attack; Baoxing met them in battle and was utterly defeated. Mei took the wind to set fires; smoke and dust billowed up; Chongyue died in the melee.
