行軍司馬杜濟，別將郭英幹、郭嘉琳皆請英幹之兄英乂為節度使，寧與其軍亦丐大將王崇俊。 Du Ji, Guo Yinggan, and Guo Jialin all urged making Yinggan's elder brother Yingyi military governor; Ning and his army asked for the senior general Wang Chongjun instead.

英乂陣城西，使柏茂琳為前軍，英幹為左軍，嘉琳為後軍，與寧戰，茂琳等敗，軍多降寧。 Yingyi drew up west of the city with Maolin in front, Yinggan on the left, and Jialin in reserve; defeated, much of his army went over to Ning.
