自黃巢軍來歸，累授軍職，曆諸軍都指揮使。 Defecting from Huang Chao, he rose through commands to overall army commander.

從平巢、蔡、兗、鄆，皆著功，表授檢校工部尚書，兼宋州長史。 He distinguished himself pacifying Chao, Cai, Yan, and Yun and became honorary Minister of Works and Song chief secretary.
