淮南、衡山謀反時，建頗聞其謀。 When the kings of Huainan and Hengshan were plotting rebellion, Jian had caught wind of their conspiracy.

自以為國近淮南，恐一日發，為所并，即陰作兵器，而時佩其父所賜將軍印，載天子旗以出。 Believing his kingdom lay dangerously close to Huainan, he feared that should the revolt erupt, he might be swallowed up. He therefore had weapons forged in secret, and whenever he ventured out he wore the general's seal his father had received and displayed the imperial banners.

及淮南事發，治黨與頗及江都王建。 When the Huainan conspiracy was uncovered, the investigation of its accomplices extended to implicate King Jian of Jiangdu.

淮南王謀反時，寄微聞其事，私作樓車鏃矢戰守備，候淮南之起。 When the King of Huainan was plotting rebellion, Ji caught wind of the scheme and secretly had siege towers, arrowheads, and other military defenses constructed, standing ready for the moment Huainan would rise.
