少府為諸王昌童建宅於太廟南，忠良往僕其柱，少府奏之，帝問忠良，對曰：「太廟前豈諸王建宅所耶？」 The Palace Provisioner was building a mansion for Prince Changtong south of the Imperial Ancestral Temple. Zhongliang leaned against its pillars in protest. When the Provisioner reported this and the emperor questioned him, Zhongliang said, "Is the ground before the Imperial Ancestral Temple fit for a prince's residence?"

帝曰：「卿言是也。」 "You are right," the emperor said."

世祖命太保秉忠選太史官屬，德進以選授天文、星曆、卜筮三科管勾，凡交蝕躔次、六氣侵沴，所言休咎輒應。 Kublai ordered Liu Bingzhong to select staff for the Directorate of Astronomy. Dejin was chosen and made superintendent of its three divisions — astronomy, calendrics, and divination. Whether predicting eclipses, planetary movements, or atmospheric disturbances, his forecasts of fortune and misfortune invariably proved correct.

帝從之，遂著為令。 The emperor agreed, and the policy was enacted as law.

成宗以皇孫撫軍北邊，帝遣使授皇太子寶，德進預在行，凡攻戰取勝，皆豫剋期日，無不驗者。 When Emperor Chengzong, as imperial grandson, garrisoned the northern frontier, the court sent envoys to invest the heir with the imperial seal. Dejin accompanied the expedition, and in every battle won he predicted the day of victory in advance — and none failed to come true.

成宗即位，歷陳世祖進賢納諫、咨詢治亂之原，帝嘉納之。 When Emperor Chengzong succeeded, Dejin repeatedly urged the emperor to follow Kublai's example of advancing worthies, accepting remonstrance, and inquiring into the roots of order and disorder — counsel the emperor praised and adopted.
