未行，汴州將李靈曜阻兵，北結田承嗣，承嗣使侄悅將銳兵戍之。 Before Mian could take up the post, the Bianzhou general Li Lingyao rebelled and allied himself with Tian Chengsi to the north. Chengsi sent his nephew Tian Yue with elite troops to hold the city.

靈曜北走，勉騎將杜如江擒之以獻，代宗褒賞甚厚。 Li Lingyao fled north, but Mian's cavalry officer Du Rujiang captured him and presented him as a prisoner. Emperor Daizong rewarded Mian handsomely.
