初，中興之後，範升、陳元、李育、賈逵之徒爭論古今學，後馬融答北地太守劉瑰及玄答何休，義據通深，由是古學遂明。 Earlier, after Guangwu, Fan Sheng, Chen Yuan, Li Yu, and Jia Kui had wrangled old versus new learning; later Ma Rong answered Liu Gui, prefect of Beidi, and Zheng Xuan answered He Xiu—with such depth that old-text scholarship carried the day.
