崔昭緯素疾磎，諷劉崇魯掠其麻哭之，言：「磎懷奸，與中人楊復恭昵款，其弟為時溥所殺，不可相天子。」 Cui Zhaowei had long resented Xi and prompted Liu Chonglu to snatch his appointment edict and weep over it, saying, "Xi harbors treachery, is on familiar terms with the eunuch Yang Fugong, and his younger brother was killed by Shi Pu—he must not serve as chancellor to the Son of Heaven."

磎乃自言為崇魯誣汙，書十一上不止。 Xi then declared himself slandered by Chonglu and submitted memorial after memorial—eleven in all without stopping.

初，崇魯父坐受賕，仰藥死，故磎以醜語及之，議者譏其非大臣體。 Earlier, Chonglu's father had been convicted of accepting bribes and died by taking poison; Xi therefore brought up ugly words about this, and critics mocked him for failing to comport himself as a great minister.
