司空自唐已來無特拜者，有司不知故事，朝廷議者紛然，或曰司空三公，宰相職也，當參與大政，而宰相盧文紀獨以謂司空之職，祭祀掃除而已。 Since Tang times no one had been specially appointed Sikong, Minister of Works, and the proper offices did not know the precedent. Debate at court was confused. Some said that the Sikong, as one of the Three Dukes, was a chancellor-level office and should take part in great affairs of state, while Chancellor Lu Wenji alone held that the duty of the Sikong was merely sweeping for sacrifices.
