愉子綏，玄之外甥，當時貴盛，鎮之為所排抑，以母老求補安成太守。 Wang Yu's son Sui was Huan Xuan's sister's son and immensely powerful at court. Zhenzhi was forced out and, pleading his mother's advanced age, asked to be appointed administrator of Ancheng.

母憂去職，在官清潔，妻子無以自給，乃棄家致喪還上虞舊基。 He left office to mourn his mother. His official service had been so incorrupt that his wife and children could not support themselves; he gave up his household goods and brought her coffin back to his family home in Shangyu.
