長興侯耿炳文為征虜大將軍，駙馬都尉李堅、都督甯忠為左、右副將軍，帥師討燕。 Changxing Marquis Geng Bingwen was appointed punitive grand general; Li Jian the imperial son-in-law and Commander Ning Zhong served as his deputies, marching to crush Prince Yan.

壬戌，耿炳文及燕兵戰於滹沱河北，敗績，李堅、甯忠、顧成被執，炳文退保真定。 On renxu Geng Bingwen met Yan's host north of the Hutuo and was broken; Li Jian, Ning Zhong, and Gu Cheng were taken; Bingwen fell back on Zhending.
