轉桂陽王征北中兵參軍，與世祖同直殿內，爲明帝所親待，由是與世祖款好。 He was transferred to central army staff officer on the Prince of Guiyang's Northern Expedition staff, served on palace duty alongside the future Emperor Wu, won Emperor Ming's personal favor, and thereby became close friends with the future Emperor Wu.
