請為宣敕十餘通，授之鄭王，有急則命將擊之。」 Prepare more than ten blank edicts and give them to the Prince of Zheng; if there is an emergency, he can order generals to attack."

是時，鄭王為開封尹，留不從幸，乃授以宣敕。 At that time the Prince of Zheng was metropolitan prefect of Kaifeng and stayed behind rather than accompany the tour; he was given the blank edicts.

高祖至鄴，從進果反，鄭王即以宣敕命騎將李建崇、焦繼勳等討之。 When Gaozu reached Ye, Congjin rebelled as expected. The Prince of Zheng immediately used the blank edicts to order cavalry generals Li Jianchong, Jiao Jixun, and others to suppress him.

出帝即位，加右僕射，歲餘，罷平章事，遷左僕射。 When the Deposed Emperor took the throne, Ning was promoted to right vice director. After more than a year he was removed as grand councilor and made left vice director.
