父屯，從齊神武帝與周師戰于沙苑，齊師敗績，因為柱國獨孤信所擒，配為士伍，給使信家，漸得親近，因賜姓獨孤氏。 His father Tun fought for Qi Emperor Shenwu against Zhou forces at Shayuan; after Qi's defeat he was captured by Pillar of State Dugu Xin, assigned as a household servant, won Xin's trust over time, and was granted the surname Dugu.
