嘉慶九年六月，率二十六艘運舟材赴福建，至浮鷹洋，遇賊，與總兵孫大剛夾攻，殲賊甚眾，而舟為砲焚，閩師不能救，遂被害。 In the sixth month of the ninth year of Jiaqing he led twenty-six vessels carrying ship timber to Fujian. At Fuyingyang he encountered pirates and, with Regional Commander Sun Dagang, attacked them from both sides, destroying a large enemy force. His vessel was set ablaze by cannon fire, the Fujian fleet could not reach him in time, and he was killed.
