Taizu besieged Zhu Jin at Yanzhou without success and left Congzhou to hold the siege. Jin shut the walls. Congzhou feigned that relief had come and openly withdrew toward Gaowu; at midnight he stole back. Jin thought him gone and sent men to clear the outer ditch—Congzhou sprang the trap and killed more than a thousand.
