司徒王導辟為掾。 Wang Dao, minister of education, recruited him for his staff.

導復引匡術弟孝，濛致箋於導曰：「開國承家，小人勿用。 When Wang Dao also employed Xiao, brother of Kuang Shu, Wang Meng wrote, ‘The Book of Changes warns: when founding a dynasty and family, do not employ petty men.’

導不答。 Wang Dao did not answer.

後出補長山令，復為司徒左西屬。 He later became magistrate of Changshan, then returned to the capital as a senior clerk on Wang Dao’s staff.
