及梁太祖即位，諸侯之強者皆相次稱帝，獨茂貞不能，但稱岐王，開府置官屬，以妻為皇后，鳴梢羽扇視朝，出入擬天子而已。 When Zhu Wen became emperor, the great warlords one by one took imperial titles. Maozhen alone could not. He called himself Prince of Qi, opened a court, named ministers, crowned his wife, kept court with watch-drums and feather fans, and aped the Son of Heaven in little else.
