按察使尋適嘗咨以政體。 The surveillance commissioner Xun Shi once sought his counsel on the fundamentals of administration.

佑曰：「蠻方之人瀆倫傷化，不及此時明禮法、示勸懲，後難治」適從之，廣西稱治。 You replied, "The people of these frontier regions violate moral order and corrupt custom; unless ritual and law are made clear and rewards and punishments displayed now, they will be difficult to govern later." Xun Shi followed his advice, and Guangxi came to be known as well governed.
