四年，汴將楊彥洪破巢將尚讓、李讜於尉氏門外，檀在戰中，摧鋒陷陣，遂為太祖所知，稍蒙擢用。 In year 4 Yang Yanhong of Bian defeated Shang Rang and Li Dang outside Weishi Gate; Tan fought in the van, broke the enemy line, won the Founder's notice, and rose in rank.
