〈（《隆平集·藥元福傳》：西戎三族攻靈州，命元福佐朔方節度使馮暉討之。 (From the 《Longping Collection · Biography of Yao Yuanfu》: Three western tribes attacked Lingzhou. Yao Yuanfu was ordered to assist the Shuofang military governor Feng Hui in suppressing them.

元福曰：「彼正欲困我耳，察其勢，敵雖眾，特依西山而陣者，其精兵也，請以驍銳先薄西山，彼或少怯，當舉黃旗為識。」 Yuanfu said, "They mean to wear us down. Look at their formation: though they are many, those arrayed along the western hills are their elite. Let me take our best troops and strike the western hills first. If they falter even slightly, raise a yellow banner as the signal."
