永泰初薨，年八十一，贈太師，京兆少尹護喪，謚曰懿獻，元載未顯時，為晉卿所遇，載方相，故諷有司改謚文貞。 In the beginning of the Yongtai era he died at age eighty-one; he was posthumously made grand preceptor, with the vice governor of Jingzhao overseeing his funeral; his posthumous title was Yi Xian; when Yuan Zai was still obscure he had been favored by Jinqing, and when Yuan Zai became chancellor he prompted the office to change the posthumous title to Wen Zhen.
