粵省海盜久為患，樸航海往剿，降盜魁張十五仔等，盡散其黨數千，有不受撫者剿平之，擢知府。 Guangdong had long suffered from pirates; Pu took to the sea to suppress them, induced chiefs such as Zhang Shiwuzi to surrender, dispersed their bands of several thousand followers, and wiped out those who refused to submit, earning promotion to prefect.
