清泰末，幽州節度使趙德鈞引軍赴團柏谷，路由易州，取在明軍從。 Late in Qingtai, Zhao Dejun of Youzhou marched toward Tuanbai Valley by way of Yizhou and took Zaiming's force with him.

及德鈞兵敗，在明奔歸懷州，唐末帝令與萇從簡同守河陽。 When Dejun was defeated, Zaiming fled to Huaizhou. The last Tang emperor ordered him and Chang Congjian to hold Heyang together.
