豨常告歸過趙，趙相周昌見豨賓客隨之者千餘乘，邯鄲官舍皆滿。 Chen Xi frequently took leave and passed through Zhao. The Chancellor of Zhao, Zhou Chang, observed that more than a thousand carriages of retainers accompanied him, and the official guesthouses of Handan were all full to overflowing.

豨還之代，周昌乃求入見。 When Chen Xi returned to Dai, Zhou Chang sought an audience with the Emperor.

上問周昌曰：「趙亦有壯士可令將者乎？」 The Emperor asked Zhou Chang: 'Does Zhao have any brave men who could serve as generals?'

對曰：「有四人。」 Zhou Chang replied: 'There are four men.'

周昌疑之，疵瑕頗起，懼禍及身，邪人進說，遂陷無道。 Zhou Chang grew suspicious of him, and his failings increasingly came to light. Fearing that disaster would reach his own person, and swayed by the counsel of wicked men, he fell headlong into lawlessness.
