周德威初聞鄩軍之西，自幽州率千騎至土門。 When Dewei first heard Xun had gone west, he raced a thousand horse from Youzhou to Tumen.

及鄩軍東下，急趨南宮，知鄩軍在宗城，遣十餘騎迫其營，擒斥候者，斷其腕，令還。 When Xun turned east Dewei rushed to Nangong, found him at Zongcheng, seized scouts, cut off their wrists, and sent them back.

德威至臨清，鄩起軍駐貝州。 Dewei reached Linqing; Xun broke camp and held Bei.

帝率親騎次博州，鄩軍於堂邑，周德威自臨清率五百騎躡之。 The Emperor camped near Bo while Xun was at Tangyi; Dewei from Linqing followed with five hundred horse.
