周密，字德峰，應州神武川人也。 Zhou Mi, whose courtesy name was Defeng, was a native of Shenwuchuan in Ying Prefecture.

莊宗之平常山，明宗之襲汶陽，密皆從征有功。 When Emperor Zhuangzong pacified Changshan and when Mingzong raided Wenyang, Mi followed both campaigns with merit.

屬部民作亂，密討平之，尋移鎮晉州，加檢校太尉。 When local people rebelled, Mi suppressed them. Soon he was transferred to command Jin Prefecture and given the acting title of Grand Commandant.

其年冬，契丹陷中原，延州軍亂，立高允權為帥，時密據東城，允權據西城，相拒久之。 That winter the Khitans overran the Central Plains. The Yanzhou army rebelled and made Gao Yunquan commander. Mi held the eastern city and Yunquan the western city, and they opposed each other for a long time.

會漢高祖建義於太原，遣使安撫，密乃棄其城奔於太原，隨漢祖歸汴，久居於闕下。 When Han Gaozu raised his standard at Taiyuan and sent envoys to reassure him, Mi abandoned his city and fled to Taiyuan. He followed the founder of Later Han back to Bian and lived long at court.
