哀帝嗣位,柳璨方用事,全忠以牙將張廷範為太常卿,樞以為廷範勛臣,自宜任方鎮,何用為卿,恐非王意,持不下。 When Emperor Aidi succeeded, Liu Can was in power; Quanzhong wished to make his military officer Zhang Tingfan director of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices; Shu held that as a meritorious minister Tingfan ought to hold a frontier command—what use was there in making him court director? He feared this was not the king's intent and withheld the appointment.
