詔逮治玉德，以阿林保代。 An edict ordered Governor Yude arrested and replaced him with Alinbao.

既至福建，諸文武吏以未協剿、未斷岸姦接濟、懼得罪，交譖長庚。 When Alinbao reached Fujian, civil and military officials who feared being blamed for poor coordination and for failing to cut off shore supplies joined in slandering Changgeng.

阿林保密劾其逗留，章三上，詔密詢浙江巡撫清安泰。 Alinbao secretly impeached him for stalling. After three such memorials, the throne secretly asked Zhejiang Governor Qing Antai for his view.

仁宗震怒，切責阿林保，謂：「朕若輕信其言，豈不自失良將？ The Jiaqing Emperor was furious and sharply rebuked Alinbao, saying: 'Had I lightly believed your reports, would I not have lost an excellent general?

嗣後勦賊專倚長庚，儻阿林保從中掣肘，玉德即前車之鑑！」 Hereafter the campaign against the pirates will depend entirely on Changgeng. If Alinbao interferes, Yude's fate will be your warning!'

及阿林保之至閩也，置酒款長庚，謂曰：「大海捕魚，何時入網？ When Alinbao arrived in Fujian, he entertained Changgeng with wine and said, 'Fishing on the open sea—who knows when the catch will come in?

阿林保不懌。 Alinbao was displeased.

李長庚論水師將材，舉松年可獨當一面，總督阿林保以疏聞。 Li Changgeng praised Songnian as a naval officer capable of independent command, and Governor-General Alinbao reported this to the throne.

時海盜蔡牽、硃濆方猖獗，總督玉德廢弛黜去，阿林保繼任，復與提督李長庚不協； Pirates Cai Qian and Zhu Fen were then at their height. Governor-general Yu De was removed for negligence. Alinbao succeeded him but again clashed with Provincial Military Commander Li Changgeng;

十四年，阿林保調兩江，師誠暫署總督。 In the fourteenth year Alinbao was transferred to the Two Jiangs, and Zhang Shicheng temporarily served as acting governor-general.
