先召鄉致仕有德者謀之，賢者為賓，其次為介，又其次為眾賓，與之行禮，而賓舉之。 Virtuous retired villagers were consulted first; the worthiest became Guest, the next Assistant, then Mass Guests; the rite was performed and the Guest made nominations.

其戒介亦如之，辭曰； Inviting the Assistant followed the same form, with the words:

「某日行鄉飲酒之禮，請吾子貳之。」 "On such-and-such a day we hold the village drinking rite—please assist."
