紳族子虞，有文學名，隱居華陽，自言不願仕，時來省紳，雅與柏耆、程昔範善。 Shen's kinsman Yu was known for letters, lived in seclusion at Huayang, claimed he would not take office, visited Shen from time to time, and was close to Bai Qi and Cheng Xifan.

逢吉滋怒，乃用張又新、李續等計，擢虞、昔範與劉棲楚皆為拾遺，以伺紳隙，內結中人王守澄自助。 Fengji, enraged, followed the counsel of Zhang Youxin and Li Xu, promoting Yu, Xifan, and Liu Qichu as remonstrance officials to spy on Shen while secretly winning the eunuch Wang Shoucheng.
