亮問侍中刁玄曰：「盜乘御馬罪云何？」 Sun Liang asked Attendant-in-Ordinary Diao Xuan, "What is the penalty for stealing and riding an imperial horse?"

玄對曰：「科應死。 Diao Xuan replied, "By statute the penalty is death.

玄曰：「舊赦有大小，或天下，亦有千里、五百里赦，隨意所及。」 Diao Xuan said, "Amnesties of old came in great and small forms—sometimes for the whole realm, sometimes for a radius of a thousand or five hundred li, as far as the sovereign wished to extend mercy."
