天禧元年，知升州丁謂言：「城北有後湖，往時歲旱水竭，給為民田，凡七十六頃，出租錢數百萬，蔭溉之利遂廢。 In the first year of Tianxi, Ding Wei, governor of Sheng Prefecture, reported: "North of the city lies Hou Lake. In years past, when drought drained it, the lakebed was parceled out as farmland—seventy-six qing in all—bringing in millions in rent, while the benefits of irrigation and shade were lost.
