左丞張文謙宣撫河北，奏為懷孟、彰德、大名等路提舉學校官，又辭，遺執政書，其略曰：「先王之道不明，異端邪說害之也，橫流奔放，天理不絕如線。 Left Assistant Zhang Wenqian, pacification commissioner of Hebei, recommended him as supervisor of schools for the Huaimeng, Zhangde, Daming, and other circuits; Ying declined again and sent the chief ministers a letter that read in part: "The Way of the ancient kings is obscured, harmed by heterodox teachings; doctrines run wild, and the moral order hangs by a thread.
