世祖與諶相遇於宋明之世，欲委任，爲輔國將軍、晉安王南中郎長史、淮南太守，行府、州事。 Emperor Wu of Qi had known Chen in Emperor Ming of Song's reign and meant to entrust him with office. Chen became General Who Assists the State, chief clerk to the Prince of Jin'an as General of the Household for the South, and grand administrator of Huainan, with charge of both headquarters and provincial affairs.
