從宋明帝射雉，至日中，無所得。 He went with Emperor Ming of Song to hunt pheasant; by midday the bag was still empty.

帝甚猜羞，召問侍臣曰：「吾旦來如皐，遂空行，可笑。」 The emperor was touchy and ashamed, and called the attendant ministers: "I rode out this morning for the marsh country and returned with nothing—ridiculous."

帝意解，乃於雉場置酒。 The emperor's mood lifted, and wine was laid out on the hunting ground.
