哀、平際，見王氏據權專政，侵削宗室，有逆亂萌，遂隱遁深山，州郡連召，常稱疾不仕。 Under Emperors Ai and Ping, when he saw the Wang family monopolize power, chip away at the imperial clan, and the makings of revolt take shape, he withdrew to the deep hills; though province after province called him to serve, he always pleaded illness and stayed out of office.

哀、平時，仕州郡。 Under Emperors Ai and Ping he held office in provincial and commandery administration.
