On jiaxu Li Jing of Jiangnan sent Adjutant Wang Zhilang to Chuzhou with a letter addressed from the Tang Emperor to the Emperor of Great Zhou, in summary: "We wish to declare brotherly relations and forever maintain neighborly amity. If you would deign to regard our distant design and condescend to deal with our small state, we would deploy all our soldiers and chariots to bring peace to the black-haired people, rejoice that cock and dog call to one another across the border, and offer jade and treasures in friendship; we would surely present each year the products of mountain and marsh to aid somewhat the needs of your army.
